1 December 2023
The Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK (SCC) is pleased to announce that Lars Olsson is presented the Extraordinary Member Award, today on 1 December at The Landmark Hotel in London. Lars receives the prize for his “dedicated, outstanding and long-term support of the Chamber’s mission of promoting Swedish-British business relations.”
Lars Olsson joined Stena in 1988 and spent time in different functions in Sweden, America and Canada before arriving in the UK in 1991. The same year, he joined the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK.
In 2001 he became a member of the Board followed by Chairman of the Finance Committee and member of the Executive Board in 2013. He was elected Vice Chairman in 2014 and stepped down from his positions in 2021.
During his time in the board and its committees, Lars has been a firm supporter of the Chamber and its mission. He was instrumental for the inception of the Industrial Forum – today going under the name Executive Forum. Also, he has contributed to the financial stability of the Chamber and took active part in the systems upgrade of the secretariat, future-proofing it for years to come.
During his years with Stena Line, he held several managerial roles, focussing mainly on marketing and sales, before leaving his position as General Manager in 2021.
The Extraordinary Member Award is presented to Lars today at the Swedish Chamber’s Annual Christmas Luncheon – the largest Swedish Christmas luncheon outside of Sweden - at The Landmark Hotel in London, by the SCC Chairman Peter Jelkeby, CEO and CSO at IKEA UK and Ireland.
The award is presented annually to formally acknowledge and recognise individual support and contribution to the Chamber’s mission and work by members of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK. Lars is the fifth recipient of the award, following Karin Ehnbom-Palmquist in 2022, Håkan Winberg in 2020, Count Bertil Bernadotte in 2019, and Dr Anders Wall who received the first award in 2018.
