Swedish businesses supporting growth in the Humber
18 January 2023
A recent study by the SCC and Embassy of Sweden in London, showed that 21 Swedish businesses alone with operations in Yorkshire and The Humber, employ close to 4,500 people in the region, and are planning to create at least 550 new jobs locally within the next few years – an addition of 12.5%. The role of Swedish businesses, and their importance for the growth of the region, is now highlighted in local business news outlet Business Live.
By creating an impressive number of new jobs and opportunities, Swedish businesses play a key role for the growth and development of the Humber region. The £100M Stena Line investment, a joint venture with Associated British Ports, to develop a new freight terminal at the Port of Immingham is only one recent example of how a long-term investment spanning over 50 years, could be creating hundreds of new jobs in the coming years. The SCC travelled to the Humber to meet with local stakeholders and learn more about the Swedish footprint in the region, something that is highlighted in local media.
